Blue Dog

I started an ABC book for Mira.
Last night I painted the first letter "D"

simple

today I read,
"some things should just be done for fun"
So here it is... a Dog for the fun of it.

more letters for fun...

IF: Hierarchy

Illustration Friday has been on hold -
the words have not inspired me much.

This one is an old idea I painted a few years ago
when trying to make a body of work.
I reworked it a little here but it is still blah...

Anyone have ideas to make it better?
How do I add more drama?
What is this missing?

Perfect day for a painting

I played hooky today to paint.

I took a painting class from a really neat lady, Victoria Kwasinski.
We saw her paintings at a First Friday a few months ago and I loved her stuff so much, I looked her up and found out she teaches classes (and she is REALLY GREAT at it).
I think it is so powerful to learn from someone when you like their work.

I took an abstract painting class from her today.
She showed us how she paints, just jumps in and does it... very hard for me,
but I did it today just paint on cavas - no drawing, no plan...
and this is what happened.

The rest of my day, I have seen colors brighter and trees and everything has a richer feel.
Being in your right brain is so much fun.
I love to paint and this was sure a fun way to do it.
I learned some great things today.
I can't wait to do another... unfortunately it will be a while.
I will be taking a computer science class this summer... all time will be going to that.
Who knows, maybe the next painting will be full of 1 and 0...

Olive Tree

Do you like your tree dry or dirty?
How about shaken, not stirred?
I really like this one, but it does look like olives... :)
5 x 7 acrylic on clay coat paper

I haven't written much lately.
But I have been painting and getting some art on digital and all.

In a couple of weeks, I will hang my first piece of art - in a LONG time (nine years). My mom's office is having a friends and family art show and I am going to submit something.

I haven't decided what to submit yet, but I need to get something framed and ready.

It is fun to think about showing my work in a real space beyond this little virtual world.
I don't even think many people visit this site, but for me it is not about that. This blog is my leap of faith. Putting all my fears and some of the things I create out on display to help silence those critics in my head. My own little work space, probably more therapy than art.

Take it or leave it. Hope you will take it and if you are so inspired leave me a note, I welcome the good the bad and I know there is some ugly :)

Much change is coming
spring is in the air
but she keeps forgetting herself
and lets the snow sneak in for a moment.
She will figure it out. I know it!
