32 Birthday

Hi -

Today is the 11th anniversary of my 21st birthday.
Someday I want to get a MFA in painting and drawing and one day be an Illustrator and call myself an Artist. Maybe even hang my paintings on the walls of a gallery andhave a big opening where all of you can come and buy my work to hang on your walls in your home and enjoy for a long time to come!

I can't afford the MFA (cost or time) at this point in my life so I am doing art anyway. I want to someday teach people what I have learned. Teach others to open themselves to art not let the fear overwhelm them. But to feel like I can't teach it until I lived it. Until I stop living in my fear.

So i began a journey in May. I started to take the train into work to give myself the gift of time to draw. It is a very selfish thing for a new mom, but I hope one day my family will understand.

So, I am in "training"...
I take the train to work every day and i am training myself to see the world again.

Most days I draw.

If you take the train into Denver (from Mineral Station), I could be watching you behind my sunglasses and drawing your face or your feet. I could be looking at you for a moment or a long time.

I hope you don't mind.

Think of it this way, you look like someone I would want to know.

Someone I choose to draw stands out somehow.
I look at people all the time and make up stories about their lives and now I am doing something about it.

Here are some of the drawings I have sketched while watching the people on the train.

I call it "training". My own way of learning how to see and how to translate what I see to a format that others may see what I see.

My new goal and hope is to get my friends and or strangers to look at my work and critique.

What do you like?
Why do you like it?

What don't you like?
Why don't you like it?

What can I do better?

Please also keep in mind...
What kind of art would you hang on your wall?
Would you want a drawing of a person looking at you all day?

I truly believe you don't have to know anything about art. You just know what you like. Getting an art education should help you describe why you like it or not.

Anyway, this is where I am at.
Trying to improve myself.
Hoping you will help me.

Even if you cannot help, I hope you will enjoy, comment and help motivate me to continue on my journey. Some times it takes an outsider looking in to remind me of the goals.

Here are some drawings from my sketchbook.
They are watermarked so please do not download them or copy them or use them.
I believe in Karma... so let that lead you where it may.

thanks for looking and telling me what you think!

Here is the stuff from May.
Look for June next post!
